At the invitation of the College of Communication Engineering, Professor Zhou Weihu of Aerospace Information Research Institute, CAS, visited the College for academic dialogue on June 7. The academic seminar was held in the Nanling Campus. Also at the event were Professor Feng Lishuang of Beihang University’s School of Instrumentation and Optoelectronic Engineering, leaders, as well as student and faculty representatives from the College of Communication Engineering and other schools of Jilin University.

Professor Zhou introduced, to great length and detail, the issues that many University researchers concern about, including the National Key Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Projects under the Ministry of Science and Technology and National Natural Science Foundation. The participants also expressed keen interest in Professor Zhou’s ongoing project, “Research and Development of New Femtosecond Laser Tracker” . The academic get-together was a genuine festival of the mind, with many back and forth of quality questions and detailed and thorough answers.

Through this event, our students and faculties had a deeper understanding of issues surrounding the National Key Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Project under the Ministry of Science and Technology, such as project application. The consensus of all the participants was that their visions were broadened, minds were expanded, and experiences were enriched. All in all, this academic seminar was rewarding and enlightening.
