Co-organized by the Aeronautical Imaging and Measurement Key laboratory of CAS, College of Communication Engineering of Jilin University, Jilin Automation Association, and China Command and Control Association, the “Frontier of Control Science Forum” forum was held in the academic hall of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics on August 25 and 26.
The forum is divided into Youth Forum and Expert Report. In the Youth Forum on August 25, Associate Professor He Xiao of Tsinghua University, who is a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, as well as Professor Qin Jiahu of China University of Science and Technology delivered academic reports, discussing with the participants issues revolving motor control, malfunction diagnosis and fault tolerance of networked control and multi-smart body control. This first round of academic discussion served as a “warm up” for the expert panel and themed academic exchanges.
On August 26, the Forum organizers invited a total of ten highly accomplished academicians: Professor Okyay Kaynak, IEEE Fellow and UNESCO Chair on Mechatronics; Beihang University Professor Guo Lei, winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, Deputy Director of the State Laboratory of Flight Vehicle Control Incorporation Technology; Nanjing University of Science & Technology Professor Xu Shengyuan, winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund and the Ministry of Education’s New Millennium Outstanding Talent Fund; Professor Chen Hong, Tao Aoqing Distinguished Professor of Jilin University, winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist, Director of the The State Key Laboratory of Automotive Simulation and Control; Huazhong University of Science and Technology Professor Zeng Zhigang, winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, Director of the MOE Key Laboratory of Image processing and smart control; Researcher Lv Jinhu, Director of the Network Science Research Center of the Academy of Mathematics and System Science, IEEE Fellow, Selected Candidate for the CAS 100 Strong Plan, Winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund; Beijing University of Science and Technology Professor Xia Yuanqing, Winner of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, Young and Middle-Aged Leading Scientists, Engineers and Innovators; Professor Chai Li, Distinguished Professor of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, winner of the MOE’s New Millennium Outstanding Talent Fund; Professor Guo Shuxiang, Chair Professor of Beijing University of Science and Technology, Distinguished Professor for long term projects, Tenure Professor of Kagawa University, Director of the Key Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Laboratory of The Convergence Medical Engineering System and Healthcare Technology; Professor Shi Yang, Chair Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Tenure Professor of Canada Victoria University, IEEE Senior Fellow, ASME Fellow, CSME Fellow. These scholars offered almost 100 audience an academic feast of the latest and most edge-cutting information on modern industry, control science, graphic and information processing.
This forum is an important academic event with the Aeronautical Imaging and Measurement Key laboratory of CAS as the main organizer, and one of the many important academic events held by Jilin University’s College of Communication Engineering to celebrate the University’s 70th anniversary. The University’s control science Professor Chen Hong delivered a speech titled “Triple-Step Nonlinear Control Design and Automotive Application”, relevant leaders from Jilin Automation Association and Jilin University’s College of Communication Engineering attended the opening ceremony, and some 40 students and faculties representatives participated in the meeting.
